swiss zopf
Switzerland’s favourite bread, Zopf (pronounced Tsopf) is traditionally eaten for breakfast on Sundays, but it’s so delicious, you’ll want to eat it every day! Zopf is German for plait/braid and simply describes the plaited design. It’s a yeast bread, enriched with milk and butter to give it a wonderfully soft texture. It’s best eaten fresh, but is also lovely on day two or three – although it rarely lasts that long! It makes great toast, and is particularly delicious as French toast. It freezes very well.
